We've all seen or experienced, one way or another, how the EDM community and electronic music have saved lives. To anyone who has never been to an EDM show, who has never felt what it's like to be included regardless of who you are outside of that moment, it may be difficult to wrap your mind around the idea that this scene could save lives. Thankfully, Jono, Paavo, and Tony of Above & Beyond have made it very easy to explain this phenomenon because of the almost unparalleled positive effect they have had on the scene.
One of the traditions that recognizably seems to belong to Above & Beyond is their use of simple messages during performances to bring their audiences closer together. Messages about love, living in the present, and caring for one another grace the screen at each Above & Beyond show, and these are the kinds of messages that truly save lives. These are the reminders that behind the music, our favorite artists are fighting for us and fighting for our community to remain healthy, happy, supportive, and understanding. With these messages, there comes an overwhelming sense of solidarity for those present; we're all connected in the moment and by the same feeling. When "We are all we need" flashes across the screen behind A&B, it's impossible to dwell on the negative parts of our lives. These messages give us hope, raise our spirits, and remind us that they we are not alone.
