As part of the Red Bull Music Academy Festival, Björk graced the Tri Angle Records's five-year anniversary party with a secret set. She showed up unannounced and in a sequined mask, apparently unrecognizable at first to most of the crowd. It was a small crowd in a packed room, and Björk was there to take them all on an other-worldy journey through a female vocal driven set that features music from an impressive set of genres.
Björk was sure to include many tracks from Tri Angle Records artists like Rabit and Lotic, but she mingles these sounds with the likes of Chilean flutes and Sufi singers. There is an ever-present noise techno feeling throughout, machine-like clicks and whirs accentuate the more subtle aspects of the set. Ultimately, the it stands as an exploration of the intermingling of subsets of music that almost never meet, and Björk proves that a masterful understanding and interpretation of music and music production leaves room for the blending of seriously unlikely sounds in satisfying ways.
Under the Soundcloud track of her set, Björk included a sweet message for Tri Angle Records as well as the track list for her set:i would like to wish tri angle label an incredibly sublime birthday and thank for having been invited to dj at their party . couldnt possibly been more honoured than to play in that company !!! the mix i played was my present to them : merging together some of my fav beats last year with some of my fav vocalists doing some of their best songs :
