One of the most fun parts of being a musician is playing around with how the acoustics of a space can alter or enhance the sound you're producing. When I was in college, many of the a cappella groups on campus would sneak into the art building at night time to practice in our three-story spiral stairwell - let me tell you, there was never a richer, more beautiful sounding five-part harmony than in that stairwell. Musicians are constantly thinking about how their music will sound in a certain space, and that's the principle of the video you will see below.
In this video, drummer Julien Audigier plays a Natal drum set in just about every different kind of environment you can think of. The sound changes drastically from space to space, and it's pretty wild to be able to see how one drum riff can take on so many different variations.
